The Jigsaw Story
Jigsaw began 16 years ago, when a group of young mums noticed how quickly their children were growing out of perfectly good clothes and toys, and they were inspired and moved to help others who might need items for their children too.
So, in 2006, in a community centre in Old Woking, Jigsaw began... A hall, a cupboard full of toys, and some mums keen to pass on support to other mums. Once a month they would meet to put out their beloved toys and clothes, and month by month, families began to come.
Quickly outgrowing the space, Jigsaw moved to the YPod in Woking town centre where the team and reputation grew, and in 2014 Jigsaw found its forever home in The Lighthouse, serving alongside other projects providing food, clothing and a place of refuge (see www.lighthousewoking.org for details).
Jigsaw now provides clothing, toys and equipment for families with children under five, including families escaping domestic abuse, refugee families, and many who are struggling to keep their heads above water. Families are referred to us by local midwives, social workers, home school link workers, health visitors and support workers. The generosity of the local community donating pre-loved and great quality items, continues to bless another family in a new home. So often the cycle continues as many items are re-donated to us, or mums or dads begin to volunteer with us as life changes a little.
From families. For families.

How it worksThe wide variety of projects at The Lighthouse are only made possible through the partnership, collaboration, support & engagement of many local organisations, churches, groups & individuals. We're also very grateful to our patron, the Duchess of Edinburgh. Thank you.
